Help Us Raise Funds For The Students In Action Program

Every quarter, teens who participate in BEST BUY's @15 program get to earn and give points to one or more of four selected nonprofit charity organizations. Based on how many points each nonprofit organization gets, $250,000 is then shared between the four organizations.

Jefferson Awards (and specifically, the Students In Action program) has been selected to be one of the @15 Exchange Partners for this quarter, and from November 2010 through January, 2011, you (teens age 13-18) can earn points by participating on at15.com. From January 15-30, 2011, you will be able to give all of the points you've earned, and that can turn into big dollars for the Students In Action program!

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP US
Based on the voting in previous rounds, one student's points can be worth over $300 for the non-profit that they choose to support. If you get just 10 students in your school to register and then vote for Students In Action, that could be worth $3,000, which is what it costs us to bring the Students In Action program to your school.

Here's how you can help:

  1. Register for Best Buy’s $250K non-profit giveaway.
    Go to www.at15.com and register.

  2. Let us know you’ve registered and you’re eligible win the prizes below.
  3. Go to http://www.studentsinaction.org/at15/Registered and let us know that you've signed up for @15.

  4. Get out the vote in your school!
This is where you show us your leadership skills and creativity in getting the word and the vote out in your school. Tell your friends about Students In Action, and how you'd like them to help to help us!  Ask them to register at www.at15.com and then let us know at
http://www.studentsinaction.org/at15/Registered. The more students you get to register, the bigger the chance that you have to be joining us in Cincinnati for the National Youth Service Summit (or in winning one of the other prizes)

  5. From Jan 16 – Jan 31, you can VOTE FOR STUDENTS IN ACTION.
You can register now, but you can't vote your points until the last two weeks of January. Don't worry, we will remind you when it's time to vote, and in the meantime, we'll be sharing tips on our Students In Action Facebook page, on here & on StudentsInAction.net about earning more points, getting more people registered, and then making sure that everyone gets to vote

WIN GREAT PRIZES!

In order to get as many points as we can, we need your help in getting as many students registered as possible, and then in January, getting them to vote their points for Students In Action. In return, we're offering the following prizes:

  • 1st Prize - Representatives from your school will join us at the  2011 National Youth Service Summit in Cincinnati (April 1st - April 3rd, 2011)
Based on the percentage of the student body that registers, 2 students (plus your faculty coordinator) will get to join us, all expenses paid (transportation, hotel, meals) in Cincinnati for the 2011 National Youth Service Summit.
You get to choose how you use your prize - use them yourselves, give them to another school, auction them for charity, etc.

  • 10 x 2nd Prizes - Win a Pizza Party for your Students In Action Student Leadership team
Based on the percentage of the student body that registers, a school from each region will win a pizza party for their Students In Action Student Leadership team.
