As a member of the Jefferson Awards' national Board of Directors, Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley was instrumental in bringing Students In Action to the Low Country. After successfully establishing partnerships with both Mayor Riley's office and North Charleston's Mayor R. Keith Summey's office, SIA grew rapidly; supporting community service initiatives across the tri-county area.
